Mike Levery was commissioned to carry out a review and re-structuring of B4G across all aspects of its business, in order to secure its position as a deliverer of quality maintenance and minor project works. With a client base including Rotherham MBC, Yorkshire Water, Royal Mail, AMCO, MITIE, Asprea and Balfour Beatty, it had steadily gained a reputation for quality work with a focus on client needs.
However, throughout its operation, including commercial and finance, there was a need to establish the appropriate systems, processes and people to enable it to have a platform for future expansion. Analysis, development and implementation took just 3 months. 25% of employees left the business, and critically, cost of sales reduced from 85% to just 60% of income.
Team working was introduced, and new functions created including Customer Services, Supply Chain, and the separation of Maintenance Services from Projects and Quoted Work. New terms & conditions, pay structures and performance related pay were also introduced.
B4G also secured a regional partnership with Balfour Beatty Workplace, providing services to schools and hospitals across the North-East and East Midlands on a 2 year contract, potentially increasing turnover by up to 25%.
